Summary:

1. Elon Musk’s xAI, an AI startup, has released the latest version of its Grok 4 chatbot, which allows users to scan real-world items, text, and environments using their device camera.

2. The $300 “Pro” subscription allows users to access the most sophisticated aspects of Elon Musk’s AI.

3. Elon Musk announced that Grok 4 is more intelligent than PhD fellows based on his updated AI model, and that it functions “better than Cursor”.

Now, Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence firm, xAI, has released the latest edition of its AI chatbot, Grok 4.

According to this latest startup news, the release comes months after the AI startup launched its last generation, indicating that AI development keeps going at a rapid pace.

Grok 4 was released just days after xAI deleted several comments from Grok, including antisemitic and racist ones.

Elon Musk and his team at xAI debuted Grok 4 via livestream, with the billionaire wearing a leather jacket and flanked by team colleagues. The most recent version, Musk said, will be available soon.

“We’ve run out of test questions to ask,” Musk said as he unveiled Grok 4, adding that “Reality is the ultimate reasoning test.”

The release of Grok 4 overlaps with a period of change for this AI startup, which integrated with X in March.

Elon Musk’s ‘PhD’ claim about Grok 4

Elon Musk announced boldly that Grok 4 is more intelligent than PhD fellows based on his updated AI model.

“Grok 4 is postgraduate, equivalent to PhD level, in everything. “Better than a PhD, no exceptions.” While Grok 4 can sometimes fail to recognise common-sense signs, the tech billionaire said that its mastery of academic areas is unmatched.

“Most PhDs would fail where Grok 4 would pass.”

According to this latest startup news, as the proprietor of X claimed, it’s only a “matter of time” until Grok 4 develops new technologies or physics. Continuing to praise Grok 4, he added that it functions “better than Cursor”.

“Cut and paste your whole source code file into the query entry box on http://grok.com, and @Grok 4 will correct it for you! This is what everyone at xAI does. “Works better than Cursor,” Musk added in a post on X.

Grok 4 will initially be available to X’s premium subscribers, who will be able to begin enjoying the benefits immediately.

With the $300 “Pro” subscription, users can access the most sophisticated aspects of Elon Musk’s AI, which is the most recent version.

The launching of Grok 4 comes just a day after the AI startup was compelled to remove offensive Grok posts from X, including antisemitic comments and answers to users.

According to some experts, Mr Musk has tried to stay clear of other chatbots like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini, which is deemed “woke”.

In June, he asked X users to help train the chatbot with “divisive facts,” which he defined as “things that are politically incorrect but factually true.”

Linda Yaccarino announced on Wednesday that she was leaving after two years after Mr Musk appointed her to manage X, formerly Twitter, which he purchased for $44 billion (£32.4 billion) in late 2022.
