Microsoft Testing Exciting “Hey, Copilot” Feature on Windows

Microsoft always brings new, exciting features to enhance user experience and improve features by identifying possible bugs. Recently, in a blog, the company said that Windows users who earlier subscribed to Insider Builds can use Wake Copilot by just saying, “Hey, Copilot”.

Copilot, like Apple’s Siri for iOS, Google Gemini for Android, and Samsung Bixby, can be activated with the “Hey, Copilot!” voice command, which will result in a Copilot Voice Floating UI on the bottom of your screen or a small chime, voice saying hello, or reaction from the Artifical Intelligence assistant.

However, the tech company said, the feature will not be enabled by default. To activate it, launch the Copilot app on your Windows machine, tap your avatar in the lower left corner, and select Settings.

In case you are wondering about this latest tech news, the Copilot Voice interface only shows up while you interact with the AI chatbot. To end a chat, simply tap the ‘X’ button. Copilot will also automatically terminate the call if you do not interact for a few seconds.

Also, while wake word recognition is done locally, the tech giant company says Copilot will try to access the internet because its replies require an active connection. Currently, the “Hey, Copilot” feature is only accessible if you have selected English as your display language.

The tech organization recently revealed that the Settings app now allows you to search using natural language. The tech giants also improved the “Click to Do” tool, adding choices to summarize, modify content, and generate a bulleted list.

According to a frequently asked question (FAQ) on the company’s site, the technology is based on an on-device wake word detector with a 10-second audio delay. It cannot upload audio to the cloud or save it locally. According to the organization, the wake word can be recognized even without an internet connection, but Copilot Voice features require an online connection because the functionality is cloud-based.

Since the early stages of its artificial intelligence development, the business has tested by making the experience available directly on their Windows computers, as well as in other products such as the Office suite. The company did not fall behind when the era of generative artificial intelligence began, with Bing being one of the first AI models to join the ranks of Google’s Bard and OpenAI’s GPT, and it now offers an exclusive Copilot Search.

So, as soon as the company updates anything regarding the testing, the users will be able to use it for their work purposes and enjoy the latest feature.
