Google has recently revealed a new feature for iOS users. According to the feature, Google Maps will now save screenshots on iPhone to save locations as a spot at a place.
Summary:
1. Google Maps has introduced an updated feature for iOS users, allowing users to save screenshots of different locations to save them as a spot on the map.
2. Users can use the “You” page within the app to view a new private list called “Screenshots,” which automatically recognizes and saves locations based on the screenshot.
3. This new feature uses Gemini AI to detect place-related information from screenshots and offers options to save them immediately.
It has become smarter with this feature for iPhone users. So now, to bookmark interesting destinations, the Maps will save the screenshot to extract the details later like name, place, etc.
Since, Google Map has become advanced and rolled a new feature which means saving screenshots of different places to save their location. Now, let’s understand this feature in detail and how iOS users can utilize this update to extract further details about their spot-on places.
For example, you see an amazing and cool café while scrolling through social media or one of your friends’ Instagram posts, now you would want to take a screenshot to save the destination details and visit it later. And that’s where the new feature of Google Maps arrives. It will do the same for you, so you won’t have to lift even a finger when you stumble on some aesthetic places. With the help of its Gemini AI, the app can detect any place-related info from your screenshots and offers the option to save them right away.
Here’s how it works: when you take a screenshot that includes a place, such as a restaurant name and address, Google Maps will automatically recognize it. A review screen will appear, showing you what it discovered. You can select whether to save or skip it. The saved locations appear in your new “Screenshots” list, and you may always relocate them to other lists if needed.
Also, Maps has a tool called “Auto Scan” that will automatically scan your device’s screenshots for locations and give a list on the Review interface. However, Auto Scan is an optional feature that users can set or disable as needed, as it requires access to all images on the device.
The best thing is, if you give Maps access to all your images, it will automatically scan your new screenshots and create a helpful carousel of locations to explore. Do you prefer doing things manually? No worry, you can still browse your collection and select screenshots to scan.
There is also a clear button that allows you to toggle this feature on and off at any moment.
The feature is exciting and interesting undoubtedly, and it would be amazing to see how people are going to use it. Although the new feature has been rolled out for Apple users, Android users will eagerly wait to receive this update.
If you’re an Apple user, make sure you have updated your Google Maps to the latest version so that you can enjoy its benefits and save your favorite destinations instantly to visit later.
